I have lived in the Berkshires since 1995 and have to say it is a painter’s paradise. After working hard in my two previous careers and associated years of schooling (as an R.N. and as a software quality assurance manager) outside of Boston, I feel I have found my true calling, and that is painting.
Knowledge of high tech tools has been a great advantage for me. Artists often say they shun computers, preferring the purely low-tech route but I find that using a pc, digital camera, scanner, Photoshop, and other tools get me to the low tech part that I love that much faster….and that of course involves gooey paints, brushes and paper…..the portrayal of an image in my own style.
This blog will take readers through the steps I have taken, from high tech to low tech, from start to finish, to produce a watercolor portrait of the Berkshire Athenaeum in the beautiful Berkshire downtown capital of Pittsfield, MA.
